I know someone who believes badges were not changed on the early Mark II's.

OK. Would love to have some proof of this as it would change the currently accepted view that they had an oval badge, as several knowledgeable people have already stated above.

The dealer fitted Mk2 flares on the late Mk1's would have confused a few people, my 1969 Mk1 S which I bought brand new was fitted with the Mk2 flares by the dealer to get it registered but had the Mk1 badges, so some people may have thought it was a Mk2 with the Mk 1 badge. As far as I can recall the first Mk2 I saw which was not long after buying my Mk1 had the oval badge.

Logic would suggest that there would be little point in releasing a new version of a car which looked identical to the previous version.......the badge would have been the only external telltale apart from the flares which has been discussed.....

Have never seen a MK2 with a MK1 badge. I know the owner of car 515 and it certainly has the oval one. This car is still in totally original condition. Another I know of, which is earlier than 515 also has the oval badge.
