Anyone ordered seats from Minisport? They're quoting almost $800 for freight (I know they're big and bulky of course), which kind of negates the cheapness of buying from them... Anyone bought seats from them and found a way to get them to Oz for a reasonable price?

Looking at these seats btw http://oz.minisport.com/cobmnp-s-bk-kit-cobra-monaco-pro-seat-package-black.html. Can't seem to find an Aussie stockist?

Both Autosport (Adelaide) and Revolution Racegear (stores in all states) carry Cobra seats.

Not sure about the 'bolt in' frames for Minis, but in my experience they don't fit well at all, and really aren't worth that trouble vs. making your own if you have the ability.

Six of one , half a dozen of the other. The seats are 'cheap' in UK but post is a killer, you buy them in Australia and the super $expensive. Does work out cheaper from UK, even with postage. If you do, make sure they're in two lots, ie, under $1000, to avoid government donations. Sea frieght is cheaper but you'll die of old age before you get them.

Just be mindful that these style of seats hit the roof when you tilt them forward , a pain when putting anything in the back seat , i have "Cobra Clubman" seats in my car .

I bought them from the UK years ago , freight was dearer than the seats .

+1 for the opinions above...

However, ... remote buying of seats can be a bit of a lottery. I have one like goodie's except in fabric. Luckily (because I bought mine mail order) my hips fit between the side rails and I find it quite comfy. A friend had an apparently identical seat which had slightly tighter side rails and there was no way I could sit in it....

Cheers, Ian

Cheers chaps. Just discovered that there is a Revolution Racegear stockist/shop here in Townsville, and they have some seats in the shop, so I'll go take a seat in them and see what fits. Not fussed about rear seat access really, doubt I'll ever have anyone back there ha ha

I have Cobra classic lowbacks in mine, taken from a Japanese Rover Mini.
Last year all the yellow foam padding in them turned to yellow dust. I had to get them stripped and re-padded.
Matt Read told me evrn new Cobras do this, sitting a long time in the showroom..!

I'd be tempted to buy something else available here. SAAS? AutoTechnica?

I've also got Cobra lowbacks, from Minispares UK, their shipping was much lower than the quote from MiniSport, though that was a few years ago now.
