Considering I haven't really touched her since my children were born 8 or so years ago, Lillee didn't see what was coming in the past few weeks! My eldest is coming along to Rylstone this year as my co driver so I suddenly have the urge to recheck everything from a safety point of view. Gone are the cowboy mechanics of yesteryear, now that my princess is involved!
Lillee's Preparation and "mini" overhaul for 2016 Rylstone ClassicNew Mini rear drum brake adjust screws and wedges - TRANSFORMED the brakes!!! Oh my goodness. Recommended
New EBC Green Stuff Pads - Twice through Galston Gorge last year settled this decision ahead of time. Black stuffs are great but just can't keep up
New Sump Plug - Turns out the old one aint that bad so intead...
New Sump Plug Copper Washer - Fixed minor leaking of sump plug for good. Purchased several so should last several oil changes
New rear vision mirror - Didn't survive storage in the garage next to the kids bikes and scooters. Nice Chevy ones $70 from ebay

New Optima Yellow Top D34 750 CCA Deep Cycle dual purpose Battery - FYI It's the biggest baddest thing that will fit in the mini battery box, will turn over gemini starter for 3 hours non stop
New battery tie down - Ran her without tie downs for years... bad idea
New battery terminal lugs - Seriously stay away from el cheapo terminals. Ended up binning all the new ones and went with cleaned 1969 components...
New Battery terminal covers - yes safety first people
New Narva master battery isolator - Last year the cold weather got the better of the turn key type isolator. Decided this year to go with heavy duty marine isolator
New Accuspark Stealth Black Box - Lillee has moved into the "i" age!! Now has a USB plug and programmable advance! What a revelation!
New GT40 Coil - Turns out it was a dud, returning it and maybe will buy a Pertronix instead, not sure yet
New NGK BP5ES spark plugs - hadn't been changed in 8 years
New Wheel nuts - For some reason some of my front wheel nuts were not quite 19mm or 3/4 inches... needed two tools to change tyres
New CTEK trickle charger - if it's good enough for Jay Leno, it's good enough for me
New hydrolastic pump - Been meaning to make myself one of these for 10 years, finally did it and so glad I did!
New gear knob - bling bling
New Ignition switch - 47 years, I think it's time to retire it and replace it with a new one. I hope the new one lasts 4.7 years let alone 47...
New Ground Strap - again old one gave 47 years of service
Maintenance:Bleed Brakes
Rotate Tyres
Top up Clutch Fluid
Top up Coolant
Washed Air filter
Change Oil filter
Change Oil Castrol Edge 25W50 - had it lying around, might as well use it. Best smelling oil ever made
Pumped Hydrolastic
Fixed rear seatbelt issue
Greased ball joints
Checked wheel bearings
Adjust tappets
Cleaned up fuse box
Did loads and loads and loads of rewiring and cleaning up of wires
All there is left to do is to give her a really really good clean and we are ready to hit Rylstone!
