Of course it is! I even married a 1962 850 case to an 1100S motor, once... I cut 4 holes in the front of the case. I think I then used about 200ml of Araldite... ![]() But use a later case, no hole cutting needed.. why not use a 4 synchro (Mini-K, or Mk2 S) box and put the puddin' stirrer shift & diff housing into that... ![]() |

WTF not??? ![]() Just need to check the diff bearing bores are right size & aligned, with an 850 diff housing on... ![]() Lotsa people did the opposite swap, back in the swingin' 60s... ![]() Sure it won't be as well mounted as a remote box, but it's absolutely no worse than any rod change... ![]() |

I would love to get a 1400 turbocharged engine with dog box, or rip the thing to shreds and put a starlet engine with twin turbos or something as similarly out there, but at the end of the day, my van is a limited model and I love the thing to bits, so I am trying to search out the best way of keeping it looking nice and stock and original (ie keep the puddle stick) but give him a little more OOMPH (ie swap the engine for a 1275 and the drums for Cooper discs)... It will also mean that if I play my cards right and do it properly that I can put him on heritage plates and get him all ready for the MCC cruises and shows... |

The problem is that if you damage the pudding stick shift from having too much power/torque from the 1275, you might be in for a bastard of a time getting parts again. Why not super or turbo the original engine for the box? |

Why not super or turbo the original engine for the box? I have 3 pudding stick boxes in the garage. One in the car. One on an engine. One just the box.... there is a few years playing... ![]() In all seriousness though, if its too much power I will look at seeing what I can do with the 998 thats in there now. Cant turbo charge etc because as above, I want to make sure I can stick to heritage plates... either way I have a couple months up my sleeve so I will work out what to do to the box to support the torque (or to see if I can modify a puddle stick to a more sturdy box) or what I can do to the engine to give it more power and reliability without taking away from the originality. ![]() |
