I'm coming to the end of the fun part: the steel works, and into area where my knowledge is comparatively lacking: paint. Keep in mind that I live in a salty, warm & humid area.

I'm just about to seal up part of the floor beneath one of my cross members, and I'm wondering what treatment to use.

I have had the wire brush and rust converter in where I can. It's not entirely accessible. I was thinking of spraying "kill rust" paint or similar in there next. I've had people recommend fish oil too.

Any other ideas?

After that, my floor repairs are nearly finished. So I was thinking, spray with "kill rust" primer then coat with tar. Opinions?

Anyone used the epoxy & tar combo? Does it harden and become brittle and come off the car as it flexes?

Or should I spend the money on POR-15?

How do the rust kill paints work? Are they worth it? On the hidden areas such as in the cross member which wont get a top coat, should I spray an enamel "kill rust" rather than a primer, since the primer tend to be more porous?

I'm assuming all bogs are not created equal, and I would low porousity. Recommendations anyone?

Lastly, the humidity around here means that I can feel the moisture in the stream that comes out of my compressor. Is there anything I can do about it and how will it affect paint application?

Not sure if it works or not, but its used by alot of organisations (some include QLD Police, BHP Coal QLD, QLD Parks & Wildlife, etc). Costs $299 for a self fit kit - seems like a good option to me.

the rust prevention systems are good. but kill rust is a good preventor aswell. not sure how it goes as a primer. but we painted the gates at work 2 years ago. been outside ever since. not a spot of rust. the next unit over didn't kill rust theirs. BIG MISTSAKE. rusty as

On my 850 (now in Anton's family) I fishoiled it all including under the X-member, let it dry then did the whole floor inside and out with tar epoxy paint. Good stuff but $40/L, from www.biasboating.com.au
