Try putting a variable resistor in the field circuit.. add field resistance = speed up motor.
I did this back in `68 on my 850 and I think it was a 50 ohm I used.

I have a single speed wiper motor at the moment, and even though it has the modern touch of being a self-parking wiper, I always yearn for something a bit more ... um ... modern!! Like the set-up in a hyundai with 4 speeds, and an infinate delay setting on the intermittant setting. Problem is I have no idea what motors would be compatible (with a little finessing of course) And no idea what controls would suit, or whether all the modern ones have PCB based cuircuits so can't be swapped in? help? |

Um, What's a variable resistor? More importantly, what is the field circuit? Is the standard single speed motor able to cope with the changing current (or whatever changes to change the speed)? Cheers Matthew |

So it is like a knob thing that you turn, and this will control the speed of the wipers? And I put it in series with the wiper switch? |

Also known as a potentiometer if you look up Jaycar or Dick Smith catalogues they may be listed as those. |

And I put it in series with the wiper switch? Rather than placing it in the line could you simly replace the on/off switch with a 'dial' type thing? That way, if you have the non self parking model, you could slow it right down just before you turn it off. |

There would always be some power going through it - not recommended. You can get potentiometers that have a built in switch so that when you turn it all the way anticlockwise it switches off

Get yourself a MK3+ Uk wiper motor. Its 2 speed and the design hasnt changed much over the years, but they are more reliable, would have less corrosion, and you know they'll fit the mini easily. BTW the guy who invented interminnent wipers died recently a millioner. It was a fairly complex system and Ford and Chrysler copied them without licence. He sued and got a fortune in the settlement. |

smart man. it is one onf those things that you never think about it until you have driven a car with it. now tha cars are coming out with variable int. another advancement in the technology of removing water from a sheet of glass
