I have a 1275cc (which I am boring out to a 1330cc) motor with rod gear change and was wondering if I can change this to a remote gear change off a 1100cc, or would it be better to fit the whole gearbox from the 1100cc, if possible, would this change the ratio etc.
Any comments would be appreciated.

The shifters are not interchangeable between rod and remote boxes.

If the 1100cc is out of a Mini not a Morris 1100, the internal ratios are the same, except for the diff. Most rod change boxes are 3.44:1, the 1100 Mini K & Clubby were generally 3.647:1. I like this ratio- run 2 of 'em with 1275s.. sounds a bit busy on the freeway though!

<edit> you would want to keep the pot joints- so just swap the whole 3.44 diff (& pinion) into the other gearbox.

If you can, i would change to remote at all costs.

If you don't want to use the 3.647 diff let me know!

Pot joints ARE better (according to KC)- he sez they give less power loss and are stronger. Also smoother running, as unlike the old Hardy Spicers they are CONSTANT velocity.

I have a bet each way- Ha-Ha has Mk2 S box with Hardy Spicers, and Barney has pot joints (on a Mini-K box)
