Post subject: | Hella H4 Conversion Kits |
Hey People, I just bought a conversion kit from hella - Part no #5604(/100) And I was wondering if anyone else has these fitted to their mini? If so, how did you fix the lens to the car?? (Pics??) Also what gauge/millimetre wiring did you use? Cheers, ![]() Adam[/url] |

Very good kit to have! I can't tell you right now what gauge wire was used, as I didn't install it; I got my mechanic to do it. You'll certainly notice the difference though! ![]() |

Yes it does. KK, I fitted Wipac Quadoptics, (from MiniSpares UK) but they mount the same way. You take the chrome surround off your sealed beam lamp and screw it onto the Hella. Plug should be the same. I fitted a New Era headlamp relay, and wired it with marine tinned copper cable. Still need to rewire from the relay to the lamps but even with the stock wiring there, they are bloody bright. ![]() These relays have 2x 30A blade fuses in them for the lamps. Using a relay takes all the headlamp load away from the light switch and the dipper switch- they just switch the relay. |

I use 4mm wire from www.biasboating.com.au It's tinned multistrand copper so doesn't go black when old. Note, this is proper 4mm2 cross section- not 4mm dia incl the plastic, like SuperCrap measure it... I took a 12V+ feed (red) from the battery cable stud on the starter solenoid. The earth wire (black) just goes to the body near the relay. Both wires are 4mm2. ![]() |

Is there anything worth chasing at the wreckers that can be used? |

I realize it's kinda rude, but can I ask how much (feel free to tell me to get knicked!)???. I managed to pick up a halogen set-up for about $57 from an Auto-Elec at a swap meet. Has them all the time, I've noticed. Even has parker bulb mounts in the "globe". |

My Wipacs cost me $100/pr approx a few years back, from UK. At the time, Hella H4s were $150/pr here at Robbos Spares. ![]() |
