hey guys.... can anyone tell me if this webber would fit onto my Moke..? I am running a stock 1275 with extractors at the moment with 1.5 carb. It already has a split manifold so I am thinking that its a matter of unbolting the standard carb and throwing this one on... naturally with the correct needles etc and a good tune.... ideas..? thoughts..? ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

I had one on a Fiat. They go OK if jetted properly, and stay in tune well. But these days, on a Mini or Moke I'd stick with SUs, or if you really want a Weber get a sidedraft one. ![]() |

I'm actually a big fan of these carbs (DGAV ?) I like the old 32/36 ones, but that would be cool ... Kev is right, for outright power, the side-draft weber would be better, or SU's ... but you cant beat that carb for pure NOISE, this carb wont just mix air and fuel, it will make love to your ears... they run on the "Primary" throat until about 2/3 throttle, then open the secondary in a big hurry sothat they both end up wide open at the same time - sounds magic! I had one on a 1600 Cortina, Lots of fun... (By the way, they dont use needles, they use JETS and Emulsion Tubes and adjuster screws !) I'd recommend picking up a manual for a car they came off (GT Cortina's, some 250CuI falcons and some euro cars (Kev?)) Good luck, they are a lot of fun... J |

I've played with Weber DGV, DFV, ADF etc on various cars over the years, but never Minis. There are lots of two-barrel progressive weber models, with differing specs, but the jets and emulsion tubes are interchangeable. This one looks very similar to the 32DIR off a Renault I have sitting in the shed. Planning to try it on the van one day, whne I can find a manifold to suit. Note that the important measurement is the choke size midway down the barrel, not the size of the throttle disk. The choke sizes are usually cast into the carb body inside a circle. I can see the primary barrel is 23mm (ie: 23 in a circle) on your carb, so the secondary will probably be 24mm. Vizard says a bit about Weber progressives in his various books. eg: How to modify Your Mini has as section on the DCD weber. Note that the DCD has removeable chokes like an IDF or DCOE, where most progressive carbs do not. But the choke size recommendations still apply. If you read that section you will see 23 and 24mm chokes are a little small for a 1275. More suited to a 998 or 1100. But you can of course try a larger weber on that manifold. eg: a 32/36 DGV has 26mm and 27mm chokes - about right for a hot 1275. Or use that carb and manifold on your 998. Cheers. |
