recently purchased and fitted bias barrel ,followed instructions that came with it.when installed it won,t allow any movement of gear stick at all[side to side] has anyone fitted one of these? are there any traps to fitting them.it seems to me that the spring around the barrel is too tight and won,t allow spring to flex any help appreciated

I tried fitting one of these barrels and had similar results to yourself. WHen I took the barrel back off of the rods, I could see marks in between the V of the spring ends. So with mine what was happening was the rod was fouling on the barrel itself, no matter where I placed it the same thing happened. I just took it off.

i have mine, from minispares uk, fitted years ago, without problem. still working, tried today.
but that doesn't mean the quality today may not differ. or a bad batch is around.

can you check if it fouls anywhere? or if the spring is much to strong? you should be able to move the legs of the spring with some force

can you recall if there is clearance between spring coils and the barrel itself , mine has no clearance which won,t allow the legs any movement, relies on bendng the legs rather than allowing the barrel to rotate within the spring,[thats how i see it]
