people here are running them (and 40-45 Dellortos) on 1098s so should be OK on a 998. Just need to rev its nuts a bit harder..

i dont think i like revin the nuts out of a 30 yr old engine i just want a good power curve with good torque down low and good power all the way to 5000 - 6000

If you want good torque down low on a 998, a Weber is not the ideal. I'd get an HIF44 SU and bung it on a good manifold..
Or fit twin HS2s....

The Cooper S crank in my 1360 is probably nearer 40 years old, it still gets spun to 7500.. :P
If it breaks, wot the hell- I've got a spare, and the 84.3mm stroker...

All you need for a street 998, unless it's a racer.. then use twin HS4s!
Webers and Dellortos I like better for power, but they are noisy bastards, and you can't just stomp the throttle at idle like you can with SUs..
