Hello all

Ive recently got myself a 76 leyland, now I need to change out the radiator but the only ones I can find seem to fit minis with a forward facing thermo housing pipe. As opposed to the rear facing one that I have.
Can I change out the thermo housing pipe to a forward facing? and then just get a radiator that is easier to come by?

Thanks

Antony L

Sure, as long as there is no air pump installed now.
Rear facing thermostat housing has a mount for it, the forward facing ones don't.

you`ll need to change the top rad brkt to the early "Clubman" type ones as well

Like Simon said, you can get the current one re-cored, and i don't think it is too expensive, maybe on par with getting a new one. You will need the keep the rear facing thermo housing if the smog gear is still there anyway.

Getting them cleaned out by a rad shop (tanks remove, rod cores out, acid dip, reassemble, paint & test) is around $90-120 now.
Last time I got a new recore quoted here (because the core was leaking) it was silly money- $350-400 approx.
If it needs a reCORE, I'd buy a Minispares super 2 core rad, or take the risk on a Chinese ally one.
