Post subject:  1100 head gasket issues

gday all,
still fixing up the turbo. found some issues, one of which is the head gasket. im running +100 GR flat top pistons in an 1100 (998 block and 1100 crank) which apparently need a 45' chamfer around the edges to clear the overhanging head gasket. I didn't know this when the block was assembled so the head gasket copped a pounding. I spoke to GR and he said some people have got around it running 1275 gasket to clear the bores...good option but some of the passage holes don't line up properly, my question is who has had to do this or knows of it for gasket type used and details on modifying the gasket to line up.
cheers all

I built 3 motors some years ago with 68mm (+.134") pistons and 1100 crank, never had gasket problems.
The 1st one (in my Mini) had a 1275 head and gasket on it. The block was notched to clear the exhaust valves.
The other 2 motors were AH Sprites with 295 heads and used a standard 1098 gasket. I did leave their pistons .020" down the bore though. :D
