This mod will get a few people excited. All you need to do is build one yourself. A days work at the most (after some careful planning of course) Your local wreckers will have tons of struts going cheap.... check VS Statesman upper glovebox lids for short ones

On the gas struts is there any type of adjustment, cos the strut would have to be wither adjustable to get it to open far enough but not too far, or buy the standard size one and drill acordingly... but they would still have to be close to the right length... |

Just a matter of finding the full length open and the full length closed. Full length open is the most important though, as closing the bonnet will determine how far the strut compresses and it doesn't need to fully compress anyway. |

That is what i was trying to get at.. And i was told that the vs statesmen dont have the strut in their glove boxes but the later ones do.. Ummm wk and wh i think? But i dont think those struts would be strong enough to hold up the bonnet.. |

yeah my mates got this done on his mini, he did it a little different but its still fairly easy and quite useful to mod |

Did this on my Clubman ages ago. I think I used struts off a Range Rover rear window. It saved my windscreen once when the bonnet opened at 80kph. Tweaked the bonnet but the glass, roof etc were safe. I still prefer my Suzuki bonnet that I can flip back til it rests on the windscreen

I would rather bonnet pins and remove the complete Bonnet to make ease of woring on the motor. I can get struts to do mine like that very easily as a Mate of mine is the Strut Regas Man |

I have a VS series 2 Statesman and doubt that the struts were off the glovebox. I reckon they would be off the boot lid. They don't hold the boot lid too well so they may be good enough to hold a mini bonnet. You wouldn't want them too strong as the bonnet might bend when trying to close it. |

metlel fab i used to have a fj40 it is scarry at 110kph and the bonnet decides it dont likes its shape so it flys up and bends itself up over the roof i had brown undies from that makka |

Yup... gotta love the simplicity of a Moke Bonnet... two rubber catches, a clip on each side, and bobs your uncle the bonnet is removed. Oh hang on... that means any bastard can be getting at my engine...........
