Hey guys, Speaking to a redline distributor, says they have brought out a new version of the 3005 with different angled ports for better flow. Has anyone heard of this? Either way I'll be purchasing it with a 45 mm weber for my 1380!!! Cheers |

I've not used the new one, just check that it takes a 45. The old ones needed porting, their top flange was only 42mm bore. I'd get it flow tested before fitting to see how much better it is. The originals only flowed ~137cfm, but after 9hrs porting mine flowed 197. |

Hi folks - i recently purchased a Mangoletsi 'competition' manifold and linkage kit from the UK for my 45. Price was similar or less than the Redline/Warenford offering, and the quality of the linkage in particular is very good. The manifold is progressively ported from a full 45mm down to the large manifold gasket port size, and is precision drilled for a very tight fit on the studs. It will fit a round-nose if you carefully cut the bulkhead, and fold (or bash) the lower lip down, and I run 28mm Specialist Components ram tubes inside an oval K&N with a Malpassi fuel reg and facet redtop pump. Don't have flow figures, but am getting good torque from a 1380 with big port head and STR930 cam, exiting through Brownrigg headers into a 2 inch Maniflow twin box, and Swiftune CSI dizzy. It goes! or at least it did until the belt drive shed a few teeth and the valves had a word with the pistons. My own stupid fault - the Pirelli belt (Triger setup) was fitted in 1985! I reckon nearly thirty years of service is pretty good - i was going to rebuild the head anyway - but the stupid part is not replacing the belt with the new kevlar jobby i bought two years ago...still in the box. while i think of it - i replaced the manifold studs with bolts into the head. makes it much easier to remove the intake and exhaust - lifts straight up, and the brownrigg headers can be removed without taking the whole engine out (live and learn - took me 20 years to figure that one out). i have also bodgied up a pcv system with catch tank for the weber manifold distributing to both runners and with brake booster too - no more smelly engine! will put some pics up soon. cheers ps 'min' (very original) is a 1970 mkII S, with various, mostly period appropriate mods. i have had her since 1981 and did a bare metal rebuild in '85. bit shabby now (so am i) but i still love her. |
