Hey fellas, I?m soon draining my radiator and flushing it. I?m looking for the best brand of coolant and what type? I want to keep her cool... ![]() I bought some 'flush' & 'anti-rust inhibitor' just need the coolant. Also how many litres is it to fill the radiator & wheres the plug underneath?? (I?ll have a look thru my manual anyway) Cheers Hutto. ![]() |

Back on topic.... ![]() Not all rads have drain cocks or plugs. Oz ones do, but the Poms saved 5p or so by deleting them on all their current rads. ![]() I use Nulon long life coolant concentrate, around 25%. |

But you are so good at it Makka... I use the Tectaloy 60(mainly because water DOES freeze down this way!!) and was relatively cheap. Agree with Makka as my hands fit down there to touch the bottom hose. However once there cant do anything anyways!! I rigged up an attachment which slots into the engine water drain plug adjacent to the clutch slave. I drain the water out, open the rad up, attach garden hose to rig now connected to the block drain hole, turn on afore mentioned hose and flush for about 5 mins(or when the crud stops vomiting from the top of the rad!!). I usually get 20000km out of a bottom hose and when I do replace it, I pull the entire cooling system off to do it(I hate rad shroud screws!!!). While I am there I always replace the belt, check water pump, re-grease that infernal speedo thingy, degrease anything I can reach and general maintenance. Hope this helps - I think the ave mini holds about 6 litres of fluid but thats a broad guess hooroo for now Rob Forsyth Miniot!! |
