Post subject: | Clutch Actuator sticking |
Howdy, Vehicle; 1974 Leyland Mini. Has anyone made and modifications to the clutch associated with the above vehicle. I have noticed that the Actuator that pushes into the clutch master cylinder was catching a little. . Upon inspection I noticed that the rounded, domed end of the actuator has an additional 'lip' just prior to where it tapers off to the shaft. Prior to the shaft is a thick metal washer (3-4mm) of sorts and then the C clip. . This 'lip' I am refering to seems to be the cause of the clutch catching as when the actuator is on a slight angle the 'lip' catches on the inside of the cylinder as it moves in/out. . My question is, would there be any reasons not to grind this lip off and make up another metal washer with a smaller internal diameter to suit? The 'lip' seems only there for the original metal washer so that it does not slide out. . Mick |

It shouldn't catch in there. Sounds like you may have an odd (non-original) pushrod fitted in your master cylinder. I'd try and find another MC.. ![]() <edit> there were various pushrods and master cylinders used over the years. Someone may have cobbled it together from parts. |
