Just wondering if any one can give me some info on fitting the corolla rockers to my 1380. Just wanting to know what needs to be removed, Do I need to loosen all the head bolts?? Also should I have any trouble with the springs binding or not, I am running double valve springs but can not remember what length ect as I rebuilt the engine over 8 years ago. Alsomdo I just run the same tappet clearance as I do now.
OK I have made & fitted a few sets of these.
1. Drain a bit of water out so it's below block level, then undo the 4 rear headbolts only. Retorque them ALL in sequence when completed. 9 times out of 10 this works with no head gasket leakage.
2. Coil bind depends how wild the cam is, all you can do is try it. I got away with Cooper S springs on Barney's 1293 (Wade 104 cam & S springs). Slacken all the rockers first before fitting. Check you have at least 1mm between the spring coils @ full lift. If not you need new springs, GR and I use C-AEA526 ones which are good for .495" lift and ~8000rpm max.
3. Set the rockers to +.003" on whatever you had before. So eg. for a Kent or GR cam which usually run @ .016", set to .019".
Enjoy...
