Hey i was looking my mini yesterday arvo and noticed these things that made me worry a little..... The first pic is looking through the front windscreen, is the steering wheels suposed to be on an angle like that?? ![]() ![]() This one is behind the steering wheel in the dash, it looks like has been choped for some unknown reason, is there anything behind the dash that screws or uses this for anything? Or is there any reason why someone would have hacked at it liker this?? ![]() ![]() ![]() |

mmm... There is a brand new steering rack in there too... What would cause this? A bent steering column or somethin like that? |

Sounds like a bent column, though I can't think how someone would bend it short of a prang |

I'd take out the Colum and role it on the ground and and see if it is bent. Possible the the rack is not positioned properly (don't know how ![]() that is only a vent ![]() ![]() |

Before you do anything about the steering column..... Think! Have you ever looked at another mini from the same angle? Well you should! because they are all like that! ![]() |

You should look at an XU1 Torana (or any LC/LJ) the steering column aims one way and the pedals aim the other. ![]() |

So its meant to be like that.....?? I looked at it and it didnt look right so i thought id ask, and without the clutch and brake pedals there i had nothing to see why it would be like that. And the other thing is for the vent.. I dont think im even going to put the heater back in, i think its a waste of space.. The hole behind the vent thingy had a plate screwed over it when i got the car, is this hole used for anything? |

is this hole used for anything? It is used when the car has the fresh air heater mounted under the bonnet. So most cars have the plate screwed in place. |

So if i cover that hole up, and by cover i mean weld it up, nothing is meant to go through it? |

Ok my idea is that the steering isn't bad it is just the angle of the piccy because the windscreen isn't dead parallel as in flat so it makes it look as if it is bent but it isn't my 2cents worth anyway. Pat |
