Has anyone here had any experience using a dog engagement gearbox in a mini?

MED has a decent deal on at the moment - thinking of going this way for my race car project...

What class are you going to run in?

I use straight cuts in my cars - no issue so far (appart from blown diff)

I have a friend who has just put a swiftune dogbox in his car. Engaging gears and changing is sooooo easy , taking off from the light is a little bit of a challange as first gear is very low ... if you can afford it spend the extra on the swiftune box ..

Do you know why the Swiftune gearset is better than the MED one?

Because its made by quaife ..

MED do not say who make thier gears..
also the Swiftune Box uses Bronze selectors where the MED one is Aluminium .. But these are just my personal views
I would still buy pistons, Rods and Cranks from MED without hesitation but i do like to know where they are made ..

[unhelpful post]

I find shifting with a dog box a little bit awkward...

Hi

Just had a reread of the thread - are there ratio changes in dog boxes or can you pick your ratios - so faster off the line etc - i suppose my question is - are dog boxes just a meshing difference (so for instance exactly same gear ratios as in a standard box but you can clutchlessly shift up) or is there more to it - no plans just interested
