 Post subject: Shimming ball joints

Can anyone tell me when adjusting the ball joints with shims, do you shim both top and btm joints or only the top as the btm are spring loaded.
Thanks for any help

shim them both, but remove the spring while doing the shims on the bottom ones. Put the springs back in once you are done.

Work out the shims you need with the spring removed, then refit and assemble properly.

Use a new locktab washer (unless the old one has 3 spots not bent up before).
Torque the big cap up to 72 ft/lb, no less. If it comes undone at speed on the road, the result is not pretty (been there as a passenger...) :shock:
