Post subject: | Rev Limiter |
Has anybody here tried fitting a rev limiter to their car? I'd be interested in fitting one to mine, I've had sticking throttles in the past and I don't want to damage my engine if it happens again. I googled and found that Pertronix do one, but its a bit pricey - I would have though this would be the sort of item you'd find at SuperCheap? |

isnt it that the valve bouncing stops the engine from reaching terminal velocity |

OT.... Obviously they didn't all get that, most 1500 Kombis had a vacuum governor.. I once worked on one which had it missing- and the owner had had the gearshift apart & f***ed it up and only had 1st & 2nd gear... he tried to drive it 30 miles to our workshop to fix, the motor over-revved, seized a piston & welded #3 rod to the crank. Nasty....! But we fixed it. ![]() |

![]() I know everything don`t i ??? ![]() ok,,,maybe not everything ![]() He he that sounds simple enough to work... now how do I set the rpm it works at? Would be really annoying if it cut the rpm at 4000 ![]() |

![]() I know everything don`t i ??? ![]() ok,,,maybe not everything ![]() You forgot to say "easy peasy" ![]() Just throwing another idea out there, you could control your ignition with a Megasquirt. You could rev limit with spark cut and have a fully programmable ignition map to boot. Though i'd say it would probably be the most difficult and time consuming way of doing it. Funnily enough I always seem to do things the most difficult and time consuming way ![]() ![]() |

Its pretty expensive though. But saves your engine... blah blah blah ![]() ![]() The write-up always makes them sound good, and try to get you to spend money. I think its working. ![]() ![]() |

Yeah that looks cool... but if i were to get one i'd like to match things. Pertronix ignition with Pertronix rev limiter. Sounds cooler than Pertronix ignition with Omex rev limiter ![]() ![]() |

so a clubman with a omex Clubman doesn't suit? edit... the new signature's slick but aren't you getting a bit ahead of yourself? |
