yep that`s right,,, there`s actually 14x power units being built here right now, all in various stages of their own builds

but there are 7x Bimmer twin-cam donks going together right now , another 2x getting mods & up-grades & freshen-ups,,, (so a total of 9x twin-cam engines here right now)

There`s one full house 1415cc stroker race motor being built,,,, a small-bore turbo injected 8v twin-cam going together,,, 3x turbo injected 1360cc 8v twin-cam race engines,,, another few twin-cam roady donks for customers,,, plus my own roady1510cc donk going back together again too

heaps n heaps happening here right now :-)

just had to ask (sorry)

why does the block have bolts sticking out of it in the main picture
is it to block off the holes for your K1100 conversion

Also did you ever finish your build guide you where writing

Cheers

hee hee,,, yes we tap threads into quite a few of the water gallery holes & old mini head-stud holes & bolt the bolts in tight with some loctite,,, let the loctite go off & then cut the bolts off as flush to the deck as we can,,, & then we fit a couple of cast-iron bungs into 2x of the mini head stud holes (the end ones) as the new Bimmer head stud locations interfere with them & the after the block-face has been skimmed/decked we then mark all the relevant Bimmer head stud & water gallery locations & drill & tap as necessary

& yes i had complete the build guide a few years ago now ,,, all on CD

As interested as I am in doing this someday it's the offset boring and crank grinding that scares the crap outta me.

Shame there isn't a commercially produced head that has uneven bore spacing.

But if they had that then they would probably have siamesed ports. And therefore not a crossflow. Or twin cam. Hey! I know of a head like that! :D

Now if I could dry sump the aseries gb and whack a g13b on top that would be cool. Same location, similar height, steel crank. Turbo it and spend all day changing tyres:-/

it's been done or is being done - David Rosenthal said he was doing it for one of his motors

bit more Twinky stuff happening lately

had some more Turbo manifolds made & Jet-Hot Coated (The spiffy one is for Ian on the Moke forum)

getting one of these Turbo charged twinky donks to fit inside the engine bay with all the associated ancillaries makes for not very much room left

we took a gamble on this one & bought a Renault-5 alloy intercooler & tried to make it work but it`s just way too big,,, it looked good on paper (Maybe a tad on the tight side) but it`s just way to much happening under the bonnet to fit the thing,,, the last one we used was a ford/mazda 323 type & worked pretty well , although it wasn`t the pretty-est so i thought the Renault one would sweet things up under there, ah well,

sooooo,,,, as much as it may "look" like there`s only a few hoses to hook up,,, i`m sorry to say that there is still a ways to go before this one fires up

i`ll have another intercooler made next week (this time to make it actually fit) & then get back onto fitting the throttle body & hoses etc ... & then we can finish up some breathers & oil drains , wire it up & fire it up after that
