Post subject: | Fitted a SC 7 Port head |
I finally got around to fitting the Specialist Components 7 port billet head and injection . It needs to be set up on a dyno as I don't have the lambda sensor yet ( in the post). The ECU base map for the RE13 cam is pretty close. There is a lot of torque from down low and it is very smooth running , but the orange dot clutch is now slipping when I give it the boot.. Not to hard to set up and it is a very well made kit , had great support from the guys at Specialist Components. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

I keep on looking at the space where the carb was ... It is running cooler than the last head I had fitted (Pierce alloy 5 port head). |

Sexy! Looks like a nice neat fit under the bonnet while still having a nice big air filter. Was also going to ask what you did with the dipstick, but i just noticed you have a flexi one coming out the side. Very nicely designed |

The dip stick is for a KAD twin cam head , but also works for the 7 port heads. It is a close fit under the bonnet and that air filter just fits in there! I have a MPI bonnet fitted and had to relocate the safety catch from the middle back to the rad side of the bonnet . There is a bit less noise inside the mini as the carb is gone , but I'm sure there is a bit more noise outside the mini now.. |

I would bolt a set of twins on to the vacant space just to confuse people. |

Oh could do that but as some other members, why not think mpi? Nice long runners for low down torque:p put the plenum where the carbs went, then turbo:) |

That is very nice indeed. I like how the SC head has the ports coming out lower than those of the Pierce head due to not trying to make DCOE flanges fit. That allows the runners to be lower and the injectors too. Could you please let me know how much clearance there is between the bonnet and the fuel rail? I know it would be hard to measure. Perhaps stick something on the bonnet diagonal stiffeners that will compress and stay compressed when it touches the fuel rail. Like plasticine or some polystyrene packing? I too think the space behind the engine is crying out for a blower or turbo! Those nice bias adjustable brake master cylindres will be in the way of the plumbing though. |
