Post subject:  +100 GR 1100 pistons hit dissy drive

Hi Guys , just started putting my 1100 motor back together and have come across a few clearance issues. I have a 998 block which has been bored out +100 to except GR 1100 pistons , i am using a reground 1098 crank , the problem is the dissy drive is hitting the bottom of the piston skirts . I have heard that i may need to machine down the dissy drive but it seems that it would have to be awfully thin to clear the piston skirts . Does anyone know what the best way to fix this is , i would have thought someone has come across this before ?

Yes just machine the dizzy driveshaft down, quite safe, there is a pic in Vizard's book.
Wombat had this same problem with his build.

5/16" is the recommended shaft dia I think, I'll check in da Viz book.

[edit] No pic shown in book, but p438 in my book says machine dizzy drive shaft down to 5/16". Reduces wear on the dizzy bearings he says.

Just the middle section - leave the ends so that it sort of looks engine valves on each end
