Hi guys, have read a lot about the sc12 units going on all sorts engines. I have an 1100 and a used in good nick sc14. I am about to start a long haul rebuild on both units.
Can any one tell me what sort of lower compression is needed to run safely the sc14 for fast road/everyday driver.?
Also, there is a kit to adapt sc12 to the 'A' series engines, is there this sort of kit for the larger sc14?
Thanks

The trouble with a SC14 is trying to slow it down enough so you don't get too much boost whilst retaing a decent harmonic balancer. Then it goes too slow and is out of it's efficiency range.

unless you went for something silly like 6:1 compression?

but in doing so you'd be killing your low rpm drivability

Thanks guys for your coments. I was not far from starting the sc14 rebuild and polish. Now looks like I might get rid of it and go the sc12 as you have suggested. If the 14 is for 2ltr motors then what is the smaller 12 from and can it do the job nicely? Also, 92, are you the one who makes the kits for these and have you any in stock if I can change to the 12? Thanks

iirc the SC12 is from the toyota 4AGZE engines, 1.6L donks found in AW11 MR2's and a few corolla's.. seem to do the job fine on A series engines? i would have thought it'd be fine for an 1100

my car with the SC12 goes like a f*cking rocket - I'd love to see an engine on a dyno and compare an SC12 with the Link kit and a BMW blower
