Doing a rough design atm, then will find out costs on getting two made.

Is it worth the effort ? eg, can I buy ones already fairly cheap ?

Depends what the seats are..
I run a Cobra Trophy seat- I reckoned the Cobra Mini frames were crap so made my own. Probably not `legal' but it passed the pink slip inspection recently.

Post subject:  seat frames

im running areotec seats in my car and to fit these i bourght frames from revo race gear witch were built to fit cobra seats into a mini as they use the original mounting points and brakets witch bolt onto the box section the normal seats bolts too.
I just had to make up 4 pieces of flat steel witch go across each seat and then bolt this to the frame.
cost of these arnt bad $125 this price is a 1999 price tag
and are they are called cobracompetition subframe with runners
At least when you buy this you know it will fit the car and you only have to worry about making the seat fit the frame witch for me is easyier to do than make the frame fit the car.

I've got a Recaro to put in. Anyone made any frames for these? I'm looking for an easy way out here. :!:

What material are you using? They will want to be fairly substantial.

Mine were 25x2.0 RHS tube for both side pieces, 30x2.5 RHS for the front bar and rear one (which is welded oblique to sir flat on the floor).
Lugs on the front bar are 25x5 flat, they go into the std Mini seat brackets.
Tubes were welded thru the side pieces for the 4 seat attachment bolts.
All the welding was gas, with nickel bronze filler rod.
Here's a pic-

My Recaro has adjustable runners under it which coplicates things a tad. But it gives me some idea of what others have done. Thanks doc
