Um, just wondering is it possible to put a small bore head (more specificly a 12G202) on a large bore engine ![]() Normally this would give rise to the question why would you want to that? but I am thinking of trying something out and would like to be able to try it out against a 12G940 head. ![]() If it doesn't fit, Oh well I will just have to use it on my 1100 ![]() Is there any problems such as less / more studs, or things don't line up ![]() |

Nope... it will fit on but won't work, the 1275 gasket you will need to use will not cover some of the big water holes in the head. ![]() The general rule is use the gasket that goes with the head (on small bores) but the small bore gasket won't seal the top of the 1275 block. ![]() |

Is it possible to make or modify gaskets to fit? or is it a big hassle and really not worth it? How does an 1100 perform with valves about the size of a standard 12G940? Have you guessed what I am trying out ? ![]() |

I have put 1275 valves (33/29mm) in a few 1098 heads now. But I turn the exhausts down to 27mm to avoid having to notch the block. Note these valves are longer than 1100 ones- I put a 12mm flat washer under each valve spring, and pack the rockers up 2mm. But it just won't flow as well as a 940 head does. ![]() ![]() |
