Just exploring the waters here (sorry, unintentional Pun. . ) WOuld it be a killer of a Job to have the radiator mounted in the boot ? Have a pair of 1.5" Copper pipes under the car to ferry water to and from, and a swirl-pot in the engine bay to feed the water pump (with a cap to release air bubbles. . ) Would I need a supplementary pump ? Would a davies Craig electric do the Job ? Hmmmm thinking, thinking, thinking. . . . J |

You would need to cut vents and everything so that you got the airflow through the radiator right ![]() That would involve a fair amount of body mods I imagine What was this to find room for again? |

It might be stupid but you couldn't do the same thing as was done with the mini radiator to the other side and mount the intercooler in there ? I don't know how much room there is around your clutch and how far towards the tyre you could go but maybe worth looking at ![]() |

Yea, I was thinking about the ducting on the way home..... I reckon the best position for the ducts would the the boot floor with the radiator mounted horizontally, and some "out" ducts in the rear beaver panel . . . . probably use a Honda or Hyundai Radiator.... Hmmmmmmmmm still thinking, yea, I've looked at the RH wheelarch... would be nice, but i reckon the loss of flow out of the RH wheelarch may be an issue.... Anyone with a flip-front got a comment ? - they dont run inner arches, do they ? J |

J Good idea I was thinking you meant something like the twiniminis used and vents cut in the boot lid but your idea will interupt the look of the outer panels far less. I don't think the flip fronts run inner arches and given that there shouldn't be too many problems with airflow I would have thought because otherwise flip fronts would be less popular. But then again I could be wrong... would it be possible to fit a better radiator to compensate? |

It might get a bit wet in the boot when it rains. |

Why dont you put the radiator where the spare wheel goes and run a scoop for it under the car like the subaru scoop on the bonnet but reverse under the car Pat |

![]() You can always weld some sheet back in if it don't work! ![]() Sound advice. A little aluminium sheet metal fitted underneath to prevent too much air going under the car would also improve air cooling though the radiator and/or intercooler. Have got a little Nissan ally/plastic radiator for my beast (space is really at a premium), and had figured that I'd just fit another one on the RH side if cooling became a problem. The CraigDavies pumps are expensive for the flow, and that's a whole heap of extra water mass if you want to run it all the way to the back. You would be better off going air/water intercooling (Subaru Liberty B4, etc) than doing this. |

Why don't you just cut into your bonnet and turn it all into a big flat area of fins. You could use that as a giant radiator. Great airflow (if you angle the fins right) and it's such a large area, it would lose the heat faster than a crook in a Ferrari. Or mount the engine in the boot, and give the engine bay all to the raditor. You could even have 6 or so mounted in there. Or you could build it into a rocket and blast to the moon... See where I'm going with this...? |
