I have been investigating the different alternatives for an engine conversion for my mini. Can anyone tell me how much bigger the engine bay on a clubman compared to a roundnose is? |

What would I have to extend to get a 4EFTE into my round nose mini? Just extend the nose or would the bonnent be too low as well? I have read that the gearbox on a 4EFTE is the problem as far as size goes is there a smaller toyota gearbox that would fit? |

Forget the 4EFTE..... Use a Suzuki GTi twin cam and 5 speed.... it will fit in a round nose. You can turbo it later if required |

As a guide, when they have fitted the Vtec into roundies in the UK, they extend the front by around 50mm......... so if you used that as a rule of thumb i think you would be right. |

It's not just the nose they extend, it's the wheelbase.. ![]() Problem with the VTEC is, the gearbox fouls the RHD rack. If you can work out how to move the rack (and floor) back 40mm it'll fit a roundnose. Or go LHD.... yeah, right! ![]() 4EFTE into a roundnose... extending the front guards a bit would do it. Different problem to VTEC, just needs more room at the front. ![]() |

the G13B gti engine looks a lot smaller than the 4efte motor, ill post a new thread in the gallery this afternoon or tonight after work, its neally finished ![]() theres a heap of roundies with gti motors in them, and they dont seem to have any troubles fitting them, but a turbo is sometimes out of the question.. good luck if your going to put a 4efte in a roundie but ![]() |

Con Torresi, has the measurements on a thread on here somwhere as I asked him the same question about the size difference between the 4efte and the Suzuki G13B. There actually alot in it. Just differences in certain directions. But everyone's right it is much easier to get a G13B into a roundnose. |

Thanks everyone. So if I can extend the front 50mm or so I should be ok? It will fit under a roundnose bonnet? I was thinking that if I was going to go to the effort of doing the conversion I would use the 4EFTE. Plus I cant find any good G13B's at reasonable prices. But then again I cant find any 4EFTE's. Not sure what to do. |

I still haven't given up on the 4EFTE fitting in a roundnose. The problem is the turbo. When the motor is positioned correctly the turbo hangs out the front. Solution, get an exhaust manifold made that sits it up out over the gearbox. Sounds easy enough. Brad could fairly easily check thtis out, one weekend, remove motor and subbi. Take off exhaust mani, fit his subframe to roundnose shell....see how much room is left for you to plumb the headers over to the gearbox.......Not that I'm trying to encourage you.....Brad. ![]() |
