1. Increase flow into the carb by smoothing air entry. More power. 2. Increase induction length, which can improve torque. 3. Improve low speed running due to better mixture control (Webers & Dellortos). 4. Increased `Bling' factor.. ![]() Short ones give improvements 1 & 3 above, while still allowing an air filter to be fitted. These are often called `stubstacks'. ![]() |

You can buy them for SU's- either short or long type. Weber & Dellorto ones (for use without filters) come in various lengths. Russell Engineering (in Sydney) makes short ones that fit Weber only. I made a batch of short ones last year that fitted both Weber & Dellorto but I'm out of stock now. Might make more if I get enough orders. ![]() |

For HIF and HS carbs, you can buy 'em already. Short or long type are on MiniSpares and MiniMania sites, somewhere. I saw some at Padstow Pirates- can't remember how much $$ they were. Siclad, they go on the front of the carb. If you have a deep enough filter they go inside it, otherwise put a UniFilter etc sock over it. Stubstacks like I made are real short, to provide a radiused entry to the carb- they sit on the backplate of the filter and are held on by the filter screws. These will fit inside a K&N, Ramflo, Pipercross, etc. Only fit Weber/Dellorto, I never made them for SU's.... |
