I Love it apart from the speakers, they are too big and just don't look right on such a nice dash. Otherwise ![]() |

Quote: shoulda centered the head unit...
You can't centre the head unit and still see the gauges through the steering wheel there is not enough room the head unit runs up the side of the gauges so it has to be a bit off centre. ![]() |

Hey thanks guys!! Always good when others appreciate your handy work. ![]() A few points... 1. Yes I have plans to place 3 2" gauges above the stereo. The holes are already cut in the wood beneath the leather. I want to put an oil pressure gauge, but no ideas for the other 2? Any suggestions? Also, the original gauges will be making way for new VDO gauges one day. 2. Yes Crappy blankpunt speakers and ancient Alpine tape deck. Only in there because I had them lying around in the garage. They WILL be replaced as funds become available ( likely to be after sept when my first child is due!!) Nice new Alpine CD player and MB Quart speakers to be fitted. 3. I know speakers are huge, and look out of place on the nice dash, but where else was I gonna put em? After I change the speakers for decent ones it should look nicer. But the large speakers saved me having to have ugly exposed screws to fix the bottom of the dash in... the screws in the bottom of the speakers fix the dash to the original tray on the bottom!! 4. Twista, I took a few pics from behind the dash of how it is held in on the top on the left, right and center. Basically a metal bracket screwed to the back of the dash and hooked around to hold on to the top. Magic, no ugly screws!! Read previous point for how it is held in on the bottom. ![]() ![]() 5. I'm looking for cylindrical globe covers to put through to the front of the dash so that the indicator lights can actually be seen. Hehe, forgot that at first. ![]() And yes, finally the stereo couldn't be centered because of the instrument cluster. I'm loving finally having a glove box!! Whoo hoo. Almost as good as sitting in my rex now! Ciao, Ray. |

Candy was a bit of a surprise catch. Owned by quite a few people recently and someone along the way spent quite a bit of money restoring and rebuilding the whole car. The guy I brought it off knew nothing of the mods to the engine, as it was idling like a pig trying to breathe through twin 1 1/4" SU's. He told me it just needed a retune. After finding out about a Wade 140 Cam and spotting 1.7 lift roller rockers in the top of the engine it became apparrent to me and a friend that there was some engine work done here. So we decided to get a Weber to allow for a better cfm flow to correct the extreemly rich idle due to not enough air making it in. After fitting LCB's and a 2" exhaust got it dyno tuned and got that figure of 85bhp at the wheels. Don't realy know about the internals, but I've sofar found -ported and polished head -1.7 lift roller rockers -wade 140 cam -uprated diff -cooper s uni joints and put on -Weber -LCB's -2"exhaust I'm assuming some large overbore and pistons ext... Compression test gives me 190psi ~ 13.5:1 compression ratio. Just got lucky I guess... |

small (maybe square) tweakers, instead of those speakers would probably look really good. Dash looks great! Good job |

Gauges: Tacho Speedo Fuel Engine Temp Volt meter Oil temp Oil presure Analogue clock As for the indicator and handbrake lights, I'd put thm where the ashtray goes, and tint them dark to blend in. Dash looks great by the way. |

Warning lights in dash boards can be a pain. Triumph Mark2 2500 sedans and also Triumph Dolomites had a neat round binnacle the same size or very close to the standard Smiths auxilary instrument size. It held all the warning lights for the car. Have a look at one. |
