itd be cheaper to buy a hairdryer.... youd probably get more boost from it too. i checked these out, and most of the "DIY in >1hr" stuff is all abit suss. like Hi-clones for example. save up for the real thing. |

Don't turbo chargers and super chargers need to spin at like 100,000rpm to work? ![]() |

You'd probably get better power connecting the aircon to your air inlet. |

The phrase `perpetual motion' comes to mind. It will probably take more electrical power (ie power loss) to drive it than what it will give back! ![]() |

i was reading an interesting article from autospeed about electric superchargers.. there a load of shite basically.. not quite what your thinking kevin though.. basically for a fan to blow strong enough to actually out run the ait that the engine is sucking itself it would have to be drawing similar amounts of power off the engine to a mechanical jobby. (around 10HP) which equates to approximately 600Amps.. i dunno about you guys but my alternator wouldnt cope with such a large fan theyre basically wank factor and you would never go onto positive pressure with these things.. a normal supercharger robs about 10HP (small mini sized) and can produce more power than its robbing through increased airflow, therefore burn more fuel and get more power.. (power comes from the fuel not the fan is how you get more out than in.. not perpetual motion) summary. stear clear, the fan actually reduces airflow and will reduce power because of this reason.. and search autospeed for their interpretation and a more scientific answer (i cant be bothered looking or explaining myself) |

a question from a buyer........ ![]() "Q: Hey when you say that it can create up to 2.1 psi of boost is that with the engine switched off?" |

how much would you expect to pay for a decent supercharger then? Couldnt you get one off some type of supercharged vehicle and put it on a mini? If so, off what type of car? and how much performance benifit would you get out of supercharging? |
