What motor conversions do not require body mods in a clubman? Just curious at this stage. |

body mods are the least of your worries when dong a conversion,. its only metal in the long run. Most conversion dont need the firewall touched as that is where most engineering problems begin,,,, If you do a converison like mine then the left inner gurad needs trimming and that was it... I installed a front mount radiator so had to trim the front slam panel but you dont have too.. There are 100's of other more important things in conversions then trimming metal. |

I have done a lot of engine conversions but none on a mini. I certainly won't do one whick involves modifying the firewall. Been there done that and it can lead to all sorts of body integrity problems. Don't let anyone tell you it can't happen, I have seen it. Do you guys seam weld the shell to assist with body integrity when all that power is used? It would seem silly not to do this (to me). |

Suzuki - G13b There are HEAPS of possible engines.......go here....http://www.16vminiclub.com/forums/ All of the ones i've seen haven't required firewall cutting. I agree, it just shouldn't be done and I think you will find that not too many people try it for that reason. |

Thanks fellas. I have never even seen a converted mini. I would love to build a clubman van with a late Jap motor, though the Vauxhal motor gets a big rave from the pommies. Big boxed guards front and rear would look great. When the cops stop me and find an old bloke in it will be really interesting.I would build it just for that alone. |

another one is the rover 1.8 twin cam conversion using a K series front subframe. u do need to extend the front 2 inchs though. this engine is use in landrover freelanders, mg's and i believe it might even be a a lotus aswell. the guy up the road at the mg workshop is doin one. |

Off curiosity, which of the 3 engines requires the least amount of bodywork and modifications to subframes? Which will fit in a roundnose? |

from what i know your best bet would be a suzuki G13B engine. the starlet engine fits in a round nose but l have only seen one example and it was very poor. still runnin drum brakes. u can buy a subframe from the us that requires no body mod to fit the honda B16A engine it cums with brake to but i'm not sure on the pricing. |

Is that the kit for left hand drive cars only? Doesn't it require the nose to be extended too? |

There is a long thread on this conversion on MM site. Basically LHD it fits in a stock length roundnose, but RHD a no-no. Problem is steering box on RHD cars fouls the diff housing. ![]() |
