I happened to drive my miini home from the mechanics the other day without the air filter on(I figured it was only tarmac and not that far), I noticed a significant increase in power, I was wondering what would be a good filter to buy to minimise the air restriction because I don't want to put that filter back on now but I'm gonna damage something if I don't.

K & N Filters are expensive but you can "recharge them" - in other words wash them and re-oil the filters.

Are you thinking of changing just the filter or the whole air filter assembly?

I replaced my standard filters and housing on my twin SUs with K&N pancake style filters and the difference in noise levels was quite substancially louder, it's a much better sound but it can get to you if you drive long distances 8)
