I was looking around the web and noticed that you can get 350CFM twin barrel Holleys. Has anything ever been attempted with Holley Carbies as a replacement to the dellorto/SU etc. Probably not just wondered...

beside the fact that you would probably have to fabricate your own manifold I think a 350 would be too big for a mini.

I had one on my 202 HQ Kingswood and it was the perfect carb.

The standard calculation for CFM carbies is

Engine size (CID) x maximum RPM / 3456 = CFM
CFM @ 100% volumetric efficiency
Where CID = CC / 16.39

Therefore for a 1275
78 X 6500 / 3456 = 147

so if you HAD to fit a Holley, the twin-Choke 180CFM unit would be near perfect......

Oh, they are the same bolt-pattern and layout as a DGAV Weber, so there are lots of manifolds out there already.... they just arent very good.....

A 350 Holley is definitely too big for a Mini engine.

Having tried a 180 Holley and a 32/36 DGV weber on my old Gemini, the Weber was by far superior.

I sold the Weber before I realised it would have worked on a hot 1275...

I see mixed feelings about the downdraft weber. I knew a guy who had a hot lightened flipfront road beast, and he swore by those downdraft webers.

From what people are saying Holley aren't too bad just not suitable for small engine capacities. The Holley on my brother car ran like a dream with little or no adjustment necessary. I think that makes it a pretty well designed carb. And I would hardly describe the SU as a cutting edge design. Mainly wondered what other carbs might have applications on the 1275.

when people talk about goose neck manifolds they say that the fuel/air bix has to turn to many corners,look at the down draft weber,its gotta turn bugger corners more often
its gotts go down,turn a 90* then another 90*
has GR got a downdraft manifold?
