Post subject:  Wheel spacers
Looking to get some wheel spacers made about 20mm thick .Had a look at cutting down some drums to suit but have decided they wont do. Anyone know a Melbourne company that can do this for me?

Well, if you were to do it, aluminium would be lighter, but pretty expensive to reinvent the wheel (spacer) when you can buy them...

Hey Besser,

Before you invest in spacers you may wish to check if they are legal in your state. I known they are definately not legal in NSW. I have just changed my wheels to ensure I could get a pink slip.

I have also been told that in QLD that is not allowed also

I find it amazing that 4 out of 5 parts places I've been to recently (not just Minis) all advertise & sell these things, but they're not legal!

BTW the ones with the hex holes and screw-on stud extenders were truly deadly, I've not see them lately though. :lol:

My clubbie passed a roadworthy with 5mm spacers on it. I'm not sure if they missed them or what but they didn't say anything about it and passed the car.

They are legal if the car came with them. XU1 Toranas came with them and so did a few other cars.

Many euro cars had them, like my Fiat 124S did. :wink:
I have a 5mm one on the RH rear of my Mini, it had a shunt sometime in the distant past and it's the only way I could get the rear alignment right.
Shssssh, don't tell the spacer Police.. 8)

If you really wants some bad enough I have a set.... but after reading Angusdog's comments on a previous topic I decided that it was time to get rid of them, they are still in my spares pile as I didn't want to throw them out but I didn't want to ebay them either :cry:

My old man is building a hotrod at the monent and he said that as long as they are screwed or bolted to the flange are legal for road use on rods. The stud holes must not let the spacer slop around at all.

Any wheel and tyre shop will make the spacers that bolt on for you.
