Now i know that the numeration on the two types of tyre is different but im not sure what size road tyre im looking for. needs to be low profile.

i think you will be looking for a 220x55x15,, i used to have 195x55x15's on my suzuki gti if that helps.

220 = tread width (mm)
565 = overall diameter (mm)
15 = wheel diameter (in)

for street tyre
220 = tread width (mm) [9 in wheel width = 228 mm]
55 = % tread width that is the sidewall
15 = wheel diameter (in)
220 x 55% = 121 (mm)
overall diameter = 15 x 25.4 + 121 = 502 mm bit smaller and probably a bit narrow for a 9 inch wide wheel?

you can fiddle with profiles and tread widths to get the right overall diameter and ideal tread width. Beware of going too wide though, because you aquaplane easier with an overwide tire, especially with lower weight. assuming this is for the sprite?

Michael, just got back from taking measurements off the wheel and tyre
220 tread width seems perfect. but the height of the tyre is 85mm from bead to top of sidewall.
:oops: quite puzzled :oops:
Im off to a second hand tyre shop tomorrow who has agreed to try till we nail it.
And he has offered me a good deal on tyre prices for signage on the car...
If only the tyres were easier to find :)

85 x 2 =170
your slicks overall diameter is made up of 15 x25.4 +170 = 551 ...ish

the amount of air in the tyre will change the shape, so i reckon you could easily account for that and measurement parallax error with the difference.

gotta love those kind of deals. mate of mine showed me the ex-Neil Bates Corrolla Michelin dirt tyres he got for his Subaru Liberty RS2000 that he is building at the moment. The price was a small video he made for Neil :!:
