i got told to change my blow off valve before it go's on the dyno has anyone else had problems with it? any clue's to what else would fit? thanks in advance lucas |

What's wrong with it? It's just a valve that releases the pressure if the car backfires. No bling bling pssssst, Greddy stuff here. Who's dyno? I'd be looking for somone more knowledgeable if there telling you to get rid of it... Unless of course something is wrong with it. |

I didn't think it was actually a blow off valve.. It only activates at the sort of pressure caused by.. er blow back(is that it?) |

No it's not a "blow off valve", it's a pressure relief valve. Blow valves do serve this purpose too I believe, but the SC12 kit doesn't need a blow off valve since it is a suck through set up. |

As slinkey and others have said it is a back fire vavle only blows off if the engine backfires. Prevents the SC from being damaged when it is tried to be turned backwards in the event of a backfire. If you do have it backfire a few times (usually due to poor tuning) the O-ring in the valve may get damaged so is best to be replaced if this occurs. Just a plain 3/4" OD O-ring. |

Ahhh ok i had mine tuned up right by a reputatble mini place but they warned me with a standard petrol pump and missing a part in my carb i would have a few back fires and i think ill need to look into the o ring (i can get them cheap at work) i have noticed a leak after backfires from one of the sc mounting bolts need to replace the brass washed again, but if i where to go an adjustable or bling blow off valve would this have any purpose? what benifits or losses are there? what types would people suggest |

do not fit an adjustable or aftermarket blow off valve the relief valve thats on there vents air/fuel mixture only when there is a pressure build up as a result of a backfire. |

I dont think you can use a "Blow off Valve" with a suck through setup... As 92 said, why not just replace the O-ring, its a tiny cheap part... max $2 compared to a $150+ blow off valve (if it could be used that is) My math says you could replace the O-ring around 100 times and your still ahead $$ terms 
I would look into the tune and sort the backfiring out first.... then no more issues with the relief valve ring busting. Pete |

i totally understand this and agree with it. i just dont completely understand the modern car pressure release theory and whether having a release would benifit over just a backfire release. if the answer is dont bother then case closed ill get into the oring supply at work. thanks for the advice |

The order is, air from outside, into carb into sc (or turbo) then into motor, so therefore its got fuel from the get-go... Simple answer - DONT DO IT, its a major disaster waiting to happen... For once I agree with spaceboy - sorry mate, just never thought I would actually write that

Close we made one for him out of teflon...Heat resistant but will still seal Was having problems off it backfiring with the injection and shooting the o'ring west now it back fires re seals and keeps on going

hey guys sorry about not replying! thanks for everyone's reply too! my tuner is greg at mini classic at ermington he said he replaced the o ring but still wasnt working.. i assume he mean's it's not sealing =S |
