Anybody know of any 10 inch wheels that go over the metro brake set up?

mate i dont think i have ever heard of any over the 8.4s i know you can get them turned down to like 7.9s or something

It's a bit of a pipedream really. Don't fully expect there to be one just thought someone out there might know.

The only discs you will get under tens are 7.5" ones.
You need 12" wheels minimum for any disc size over about 8".

The reason is the rims are 10" diameter outside, inside is more like 8.5 to 9 inch.
So while the disc rotor could fit in there, there is no room left for the calipers.

get out yer angle grinder and get stuck into it anything'll fit that way

Boostedmini has 7.5" 4 pots now, even my standard Contessa Mini offset ones won't fit over.
The Japs make some 10" wheels that will `fit' with 8.4s but the offset is bloody ridiculous...
They not so much fit `over' as `next to'..

Dont think the 8.4" would go but I have squeezed 8.25" to fit. I think you should get down pick a part and start some spanner engineering. These new Jap micro cars have some small brakes.

there is some guy in england, who has posted on here, that has designed 10 inch steelies, ( cooper s style ) to fit over 8.4 brakes. i think he has started to make them aswell. might pay off to do some grave digging

ok, i have 8.4's turned down to 7.5 fitted with minispares 4 pot calipers and they DO NOT fit under many many 10" rims, only race 3 peice style rims, (spectrum,MB,Mowa) but i have tried the docs wide offset contessa's and the came very close, the closest i have seen, so i bought a set and used a 4mm spacer on the hub and they go over ok, just enough room but not much.

now for the actual metro calipers, sorry but no chance, they are much bigger on the outside area of the disc then the mini sport and mini spares 4 pots.

looking at the pic above that is the only way to do it and its just wrong.

Metro callipers and disks will fit over 10 inch mag wheels.

They take a bit of work to set up but here is a basic run down. This is from memory

1. Turn disk down to 7.5-7.6 inch
2. Turn down inner of disk to bring the disk inward
3. Calliper holes need to be filled with press steel blanks and the holes redrilled further in
4. Callipers need to be machined on the out side by few millimetres
5. The calliper inner spacers need to be remade to make the holes further away from the calliper edge
6. Steering rod arm needs to have its outer edge machined to make clearance for the disk rotor
7 change rear wheel cylinders to 9/16 or ? inch to sort out pedal feel
8 Convert brake line to single feed

This needs to be done by a very very competent machinist and will not fit steel wheels.

The disc set up was copied from the Minispares set up available in the mid 90?S.

My friend brought a set over from the UK and I took them apart and measured all the differences until we worked it out.

The car has been running this set up for at least ten years as a road car and has been driven very aggressively on race track stopping a very modified high horse powered 1380 Mini Clubman.
