you might remember my xmas mod plans, so far i got screwed with my holiday pay, have been back at work for 2 weeks now and still haven't been paid since before xmas! bloody VACC. i'm getting it soon i'm assured so, any way i have budgeted for 500 ish on the head 280 for a 1 3/4 su and manifold graham russel engineering cam regrind plus gaskets and other ancilleries but what should i be looking at getting done to the head with the limited budget that i have that is going to give the most back for the outlay? cheers steve |

Bigger inlet valves. leave exhausts alone. port the inlets as big as budget will let you.leave exhausts alone again. (exhaust gases get pumped out) Smooth out combustion chambers.cc head. double valve springs and shave the head 50thou. |

What he said- but the stock exhausts on most 12A1456, 12G202, 12G940 and 12G1316 heads are a bit restricted around the guide bosses. I would take the guides out, grind the bosses back a bit then fit new guides. Grind a radius under the exhaust seat where the port turns. Probably won't hurt to cc the chambers. The Russell Eng RE-13 cam runs nice on 98 octane with between 10.0:1 and 10.5:1 C/R.

I totaly agree but would it not be best to check first if has be shaven first. Yer make sure its flat and see what it has left first  if it fresh.....get it milled Otherwise do al the above
While you are at it check every thing else Eg piston Slap, Box. carb ware Etc  GFo the RE13 and a Pular Dizzy

I agree. Check the thickness first. also the block. we took 50 thou of a brand new head for my mum's car. someone had already done the block... now we have 260 psi in each cylinder |

Tell me about it, she loves it though. We built a new motor to slow her down, now it's a lot quicker |
