I Know, I Know,

It might make some of you shudder, but is it possible to fit a round nose front onto a Clubby? If so what would be involved? Anybody got any links to previous jobs.

Cheers

Gig.

If you are so desperate for a round nose, just go buy a roundie shell. The HASTLE of putting the roundie panels on the front just doesn't justify saving a few bux, or waiting around for a good shell!

Ozmotorsport had one a while back, his green car. I think Brookvale Pirates did it..
One prob is the bonnet hinges, so his had 4 pins instead.. 8)

Yeah - I already have the 68 deluxe, I was just wondering because I have seen pictures of Mini K's with the recessed door handles like the Clubbies and quite liked the look. As I'm going to sell my Merc 190 to pay for the resto I thought I would get a clubby to run around in seeing as they are cheaper and more plentiful. Then when Scooby is finished I will have a bit of fun and another type of challenge. My daughter will be just about driving when it will be finished.

Cheers

My advice would be to find 2 shells:

1. Leyland thats been in a front-ender
2. Morris that's got floors and pillars beyond salvage.

That way you save the best bits from both cars :)

My car has had the front end replaced after a front ender. It's a Mini K with clubman doors. There's a chance it coulda been a clubby originally and I've been duped but the compliance plate on it is April '71

Check the tail light openings- if original small holes (not bits welded in) it's a roundnose..
Also check the bottom of parcel tray- full metal panel = roundnose, cutouts and fibre/masonite sheet it's a Clubbie.

Is a K if small rear lights look original. Lots of parts carry over between K & early Clubbie so may have Clubbie parcel tray.

If you do a steel front you will notice a difference between the morris and leyland hinges and where they attach.
Use morris guards and front panel.... get a rover bonnet(morris shape with leyland hinge points)

be careful of dodgy brookvale... I have heard of their round nose conversions.... weld the outer guards and because they cant be f**ked, they just fiberglass the inner guards.... Not very safe!
