I need to remove my speedo cable drive gear from the bottom of the motor.

I've managed to remove the 7/16" bolt that holds down the outer casing via a metal fork, but for the life of me cannot get the drive gear assembly out. I was told it should have popped out with the metal casing but it wont. I tried with long nose pliers to lever it off against the harmonic balancer but no go.

Any suggestions please???

Keep at it, it's only held down by one bolt so will eventually come away.

Might be a trick to try and twist it a little before trying to hard to lift it off. It might need to have the gasket cracked before it will want to come out.

Good luck with that one..

Nah, i bet he has the retainer out, & now the metal guid sleeve is stuck, they jam like their welded sometimes, steel & alloy just love bonding themselves together

you need some good penetrating fluid & some decent grunt & then maybe the nylon gear will break off the bottom of the steel speedo drive tube & leave you in the sh!t & you`ll have to take the whole end casing off the box to get it out

:-)

fun job hey???? :-)

good luck

:-)

Its the way you hold your tounge..when you wiggle it.

Degress the buggery out of it..them WD40 and give it a good wiggle and pull..
