ummm i have a slight problem, well its not really a problem in that its not stopping me from driving, but its trying to telll me somthing oviously. The little red light on the bottom right hand side of the speedo comes on when i start and idol the car when its warming up, then when i get going it stops and turns off and its on and off occasionallly. I would just like to know if any one knows what the light is, might not even be the ignition light, and all there is to know about it.

any info on it would be appreciated.
thanks Bill

There is not really an ignition light as such, there is an oil light and an alternator/generator light.
On some cars the alternator or generator will not produce enough electricity at low revs so the light will come on.

Your alternator is nearly dead, fan belt is loose, or both

Usually if the alternator charge light is blinking intermittently it means the slip ring brushes have had it.
Cheap and easy (was $10) fix on most Mini alternators, IF you can still buy them.

They call it ignition but it's really an alternator charge light. Pommy logic....
