Hi all, My mini K has a 1275 fitted at the moment, and im looking around to find parts etc for the rebuild, and I'm looking at the gearbox too... Now because i am a bit new to this, how do I tell what type of gearbox i have? Remote? etc? It is a 4 speed, with reverse over on the right and down... Is it the standard miniK box, or the box that came with the 1275? Many thanks |

Have a look under the car and if there's a big kind of long 'box' casing thing going from where the gearbox is to the below where the gear lever is, it's remote. If there's a small 'box' below where the gear lever is and rods coming out of it to the gearbox, its a rod box ![]() In this pic you can just see the little box from my rod change i was talking about behind the block. You'll know if it is or isn't this when you have a look under ![]() ![]() Sorry for the explanations, hope you get the idea! ![]() |

If you have to lift the lever to get reverse, it's a rodchange. If you just knock it across hard, it's a remote shift. ![]() |

get a look at the casting number on the front of the gearbox, near & behind the oil filter area & then post it here to confirm exactly what box it is |
