Just wanted a few thoughts on whether this turbo was to large for a street 998 project (capacity may increase in the future). This is the smallest Ball Bearing turbo Garrett make and I know one at a good price, just concerned its that little to big and may have to much lag to be practical.
Any comments appreciated. :D

Thanks, thought as much, just holding out a little hope as it was a fairly good deal. Any suggestions on the right type? Not wanting to go to one extreme to the other but whats the thought on the GT12 for the street and not out right horsepower?

There are a million and one possible combo's. The ct9 of the starlets is a sound, compact little turbo. Cheap as heck second hand too. I think that you wouldn't want to go too much bigger than that. Some might beg to differ.

dempends what you would like to do with the car? for a street driven 998 on sensible boost level, i would choose a gt15, would spool fast and being a new garrett gt series should be good. At the moment im using a T2 which is very similar to the gt15 in size but are an old design now and there are better turbos about.

i think a gt12 would be way to small.

gt2554 could work well with a smaller turbine housing but only for out right hp, would be fairly laggy.

maybe a saab turbo, the gt17 could also work very well

Thanks for the advice Ben. I've been leaning towards a GT15 (just needed reassurance) and with your comments I'm sold, GT15 it will be... :D
