Is there any difference between regular rear drum brakes and those found a disc brake Mini?

There are really only 3 different type drums, they are all same dimensions inside though (7" bore) and take the same brake shoes, 1-1/4" wide on rear..

Flat drums- used on all Minis with 3-1/2" wide rims, including 997-998 Cooper and Clubby.

1" spacered drums- used on Cooper S, Clubman GT and Clubby S.

3/4" spacered drums- used on big wheel Mokes.

Note the Cooper S and Clubby S drums have all the same dimensions, but the Clubby S one has a plain bore in the hub where the Cooper S/GT is cast a fluted shape. Both these drums fit the same...

Note if using spacered drums you need the longer wheel studs...

The slave cylinders on the rear of a disc braked car are smaller than on a drum front, to prevent the rears from locking. Cooper S rear cylinders are ⁵⁄₈" IIRC, while it's common to find ¾" slaves on the rear of a drum braked car.

I'm not sure there's any difference in the drum width...

(Hi from Kingsville, btw :D)

S and GT rear wheel cylinders are 5/8" diameter.
It's a good idea to fit these to any drum braked Mini when you fit S front discs or bigger.
Getting sideways on the freeway at 110 cliks is not funny.... as I found out once.

Yeah, I'm replacing drums with 4-pot 7.5" discs in a few weeks.. going to see how we go with the ¾" rears before swapping them
