Post subject:  Piston Identification by photo
Can anyone help identify these piston by sight? (ie make/brand)
First one's are .060" over sized, sitting on 12G1507 rods

Second lot are .040" over (marked on crown as 1.0mm). Inside they have raised cast markings: PD157A RENZ

1st lot look like Hepolite- either 21250 (9.4:1), 21251 (8.8:1) or 21253 (9.75:1).
The pin to crown heights of these 3 vary to change the C/R.
21253 is the strongest if you're gonna rev it. 8)

The first ones look almost identical to Hepolite (as doc said) although the ones i've got have two reliefs near the gudgeon, not one, but mine are a 21253A casting so might be a change over.

The second ones are a generic/std style, could be acl but I'm not up with the numbers on those pistons

Thanks guys. I tried getting a pic of the dish in the top ones but I'd already dropped the camera once so gave up :?

top ones look like metor type you must measure the ring lands and gaps to determine this and they also bought them out in the 1275GT form the uk with the crappy rods.

The 2nd set are std GT pistons form NZ with the shallow dish unlike the 1300 type pistons which have a squarish type of dish on them.

watch the ring lands on the 2nd set cos they do tend to break with the classic fuel over here.

Those 1275 rods are not too bad- once you mill or wirecut the lumps off the caps, lighten, straighten and balance them, with new ARP bolts... :lol: :wink:
