I'd like to compile an itemised list of ALL the parts you need to build an A series engine (and GB) from scratch.

Detail that goes into the number of bolts used to attach whatever but not including things like water pump and alternator (as they'd generally be assembled)

I would like to see it in this format

(the items in italics i am unsure of)

Head

1x Head
4x Inlet Valves
4x Exhaust Valves
8x Pushrods
8x Cam Followers
1x Head gasket
What bits make up the rocker shaft?
Valve guides or some such

Block

1x Block
2x Tappet Covers (if needed)
4x Pistons
4x Gudgeon Pins
(8x Gudgeon Pin Circlips)
4x Conrods
4x Conrod Caps
8x Big End Bolts (washers/locktabs?)
8x Big End Bearings
Welsch PLugs how many?
Oil Gallery Plugs how many?

Clutch
1x Flywheel
1x Pressure plate
1x Driven Plate
1x Throwout bearing
1x Slave cylinder (2 bolts what size?)

Gearbox
Gearboxes scare me, Tell me what parts there are

ok... so there's loads i've missed, do fill me in...

let me know the category and then the part name

i'll update it into a new post when i get extra information

It will vary from model to model of course, but I find the exploded diagrams in the "Mini Spares/Mini Kingdom" catalogue invaluable for things like this. Someone asked about the catalogue recently and mini king in narellan are still selling them apparantly.

I own a clubman so that's MR 1310/71 to you :D

It's an entire book thicker than a workshop manual, but I'll try to scan a page just so you see what I mean. Being a fairly thick glued spine, I doubt it will scan well without that parallex type curve you sometimes get.

You should get someone to get you one in Sydney, take it to Hay, and give it to willy to take back to SA for you (he has a box trailer you know!).

Don't know if this will work, but here are two pages scanned from the catalogue to give you an idea of what it is like:

If it doesn;t work, PM me and I'll email them to you.

Minispares in Padstow sell those books, they are a parts catalogue, I think around $30? You can call them and ask them to post it?

I don't know the full history, I think Mini Kingdom originally developed this and when they merged with Mini Spares, they combined both businesses (and the catalogue) into one (or vice versa). Now they have split again, I'm not sure whether Mini Spares in Padstow or the new Mini King in Narellan are now selling these, or both.

I would give either or both a ring and check. I'm sure they would post it based on a credit card payment over the phone, or get a sydneysider to get one and pass it on. See the post on the Mini King open day and post in there perhaps?

I haven't offered because:
a) I don't go to Mini Spares all that often and have never been to Mini King yet
b) I'm not going to Hay to pass it on to one of your states' cronies.
c) don't envisage going to either in the near future
d) I;ve sufficiently exerted myself just getting it out of the garage and scanning two pages for you.
:D
