Hey fella's,

I've just finishing stripping down my 998 (which I started doing ages ago) and I wanna put it away at the back of the shed.

Do I need to do anything to make sure the bore stays in good shape while its away? I was thinking just lube it up with some motor oil???? How about storing the pistons, do I need to take the rings off?

Thick grease is better than oil, for the bores- it stays on there better.

For the pistons I would leave the rings on, oil them good and then wrap in paper.

we use a gell type oil at work which we heat up to spray air filters with. thickens on cooling, but it stays greasy indefinitely so was thinking about cleaning a few of our motors up and spraying the whole thing. i think it would be ideal for preserving motor parts. it comes of without any drama.
if it works out I'll let you know...any thoughts??
